With so many eyelash growth products that are being sold in beauty shops and on the Internet these days, it has become very difficult to choose which product to try out.
For someone like me who has deficiencies in both upper and lower eyelashes, I am more determined to try out any product that promises to make my poor lashes longer, thicker and fuller. This is easier said than done since majority of lash stimulants are only for application on the upper lashes. The reason for this is that application of said products on the lower lashes may predispose the user to irritation and other side effects. One such product that I found myself testing is Ultracil.
I stumbled upon Ultracil on the Internet while I was doing research on eyelash products that are also safe for use on the lower lashes. In fact, the manufacturer does claim that the product enhances the growth of both the upper and lower eyelashes.
The key ingredients of Ultracil are its growth enhancing peptides. These would include Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17, Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1, Myristoyl Hexapeptide-16, Human Oligopeptide-5, and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-2. Other chemical compounds in Ultracil are Butylene Glycol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Apigenin, Oleanolic Acid, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Panthenol, Water, Glycerin, Glycosaminoglycans, Colloidal Silver, and the drug Chlorphenesin. The only natural ingredients found in the product are PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Copper, Ferment, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Manganese Ferment, and Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Zinc Ferment. Special note should be given to the drug chlorphenesin since it has been known to cause reactions in people who are particularly sensitive.
How to Use Ultracil
How do you apply Ultracil? Just like your favorite liquid eyeliner, start by applying a thin line of the product along the base of your upper eyelashes. Let the solution dry for a few minutes. Do the same to the base of your lower eyelashes, using a much lesser amount, especially if your eyes are particularly sensitive.
The good thing about Ultracil is that you can apply your regular eye makeup over the product once it has completely dried. While the manufacturer recommends that you only use the product once a day, as I mentioned, it has been formulated so that you can use it even during the day with your eye cosmetics.
As informative as the manufacturer is about the product, sadly, they do not disclose if any clinical trials have been done on Ultracil. It is because of the lack of any clinical studies that no time frame has been given on how soon one can expect to see results with regular use of the product. Another disadvantage to Ultracil is its hefty price tag of $80, quite a large sum for a product that does not give the potential buyer an idea of its efficacy.
Still, I decided to try out the product on the strength of their money back guarantee. Unfortunately, I did not see any noticeable changes in my eyelashes. I did suffer a redness and stinging sensations in my eyes during the first three days of use. If your eyes are very sensitive, I really don’t recommend your trying out this product. Thankfully, I was able to get a refund. Just make sure that you return the product and its package within the 60-day period.
